Magic Paint Brush Cleaner!

Updated: Aug 20

I get asked a lot what I use to clean my brushes after kids have used them. Kids have that really special way of using brushes that saturates them in paint. I have that really special way of cleaning up that always means one brush gets lost at the bottom of a crate and I find it weeks later!

So what do I do with hard, paint covered brushes that look like they belong in the bin?

I found a magic paint brush cleaner. It has saved so many of my brushes that I almost never have to throw any away! I'm sure it isn't a secret but it feels like I'm telling you about something secret, it's that good!

So what is it?

It is called "Incredible Brush Cleaner" and it is truly incredible! The brand is Chroma and you can buy it here. This is not an ad I just absolutely love this product!

How do you use it?

Pour a small amount of cleaner into the sink and move the brush back and forth through it to make it foam. If your brush is really coated, the foam will become the colour of the paint that was on the brush. Keep working it through the foam until no more colour comes off. This might take a few rounds of foam, wash in clean water, foam etc. But persist and all will come good.

For particularly dried up brushes I work the cleaner into the brush by hand to get it right into the brush and then leave it for an hour or so to work it's magic. Then I wash it and re work it if needed. Sometimes small bits of dried paint are still on the brush so I try to comb these off with with my fingers or a mini comb!

This is honestly a really effective product and it has saved so many of my brushes! Let me know how you get on in the comments if you try it.
