Halloween Sensory Play for Toddlers!

Oh Halloween sensory is SO much fun!!

I love all the textures, the colours and everything you can do with simple things!

Our Mini Sensory Sessions are for kids under 5 who love exploring with all of their senses. So we use colour, lights, scented pens and objects that make nooses to excite and delight!

All of these sessions are designed with parents in mind. If it is simple enough, you can replicate it at home and it won't be too messy, time consuming or expensive. I try to use items you would find around the house or cheaply at the local shops. I always found with my own kids that when I kept things simple they would play and play. And we could use and re-use items like chickpeas, kinetic sand, play doh and themed things like for Halloween and Christmas activities. These items I used today have been lovingly used by many classes over the years and it is so nice to bring them out to new audiences and see their reactions!

Since this week was Halloween themed I wanted the sensory trays to be something that could be replicated at home as an easy Halloween activity to keep the kids entertained. And possibly to be in place of trick or treating as this isn't for everyone.

Today we made:

Ghost collages using cotton wool, halloween stickers, coloured card and felt - such good textures!

Colourful skeletons - using all our favourite paint stix and scented markers

Sensory trays with cauldrons and pumpkin buckets, chick peas and torn paper - perfect for little hands

Light station with magnetic tiles for colour exploration

Play-doh and some dress ups!

Let me know what you are doing for Halloween in the comments!
