Our fave books this week at Art Play Club!

1. Art is Everywhere by Ellie Chan

   This book is a gorgeous introduction to art for children. Through the character of Keith, an ostricj art historian, we learn that art can be found everywhere and that art can be anything a person uses to express themselves. It is a wonderful book to show children the many many ways that they can be an artist. It is a good reminder for adutls too!!

2. You Can Draw Tom Gates by Liz Pichon

   This book is so good if you like doodling and need a bit of help to get started. You can learn to draw comic style pictures like the ones in the Tom Gates books. My favourites are the monsters and the circle doodles, they are really addictive to draw!

3. The Dot

   This is a wonderful book that highlights one our of favourite messages "Just Start". It has a great message for those who don't feel creative or don't want to participate in art class - or any class! It shows that art is about so much more than the finished product, it is about the process. Something I talk about in our classes a lot!

4. My son LOVED reading Colour Blocked. He said this "I like that you could spin it, shake it, turn it and it looks like the paint is pouring through a hole. It made me really want to paint and mix colours. I wish I could make a book like that!"
